Ness City Public Library

The Ness City library was established in 1887 when a group of people felt the need for some sort of book exchange. The library moved several times before the City Building was erected to house the offices of the Clerk, the Fire Engine, and other machinery, as well as the library. On the last day of the year 1936, the Library was moved into a new and permanent home. In 1997, the Library acquired the entire front portion of the building.

WPA Artists Project Diorama

Since the 1930's a popular feature of the Ness City Public Library has been the six unit dioramas depicting life among the Plains Indians. Grandmothers bring their grandchildren in and relate how they used to come in and flip on the lights of each unit.

Children's areaThe most recent addition is our newly remodeled Children's Section. This area is a wonderful place for children to read, enjoy a video, or play educational computer games.
